Emergency Management Specialist, is responsible for supporting a comprehensive emergency management program for the Port of Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA).
Essential Functions:
Assists in the development, coordination and execution of an exercise to test a portion of the Port's Emergency Action Plan Supports the completion of an After-Action Review and Improvement Plan for the exercise Assists the Manager of Emergency Management in daily program activities and general administrative duties with the primary focus on training and exercise program development and operational readiness Attends meetings, participates in exercises and assist in the Emergency Operations Center and/or Command Post during emergencies Adheres to PCCA policy, and maintains good employee relations Assists the division with special projects as directed and performs other duties as assigned Spring Semester:
Assists with coordination of the regional preparedness conference and exercise Performs other duties as assignedAdditional Physical Factors:
While performing duties employee is regularly required to sit, speak or hear, use hand to finger movements; frequently required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Environmental Factors:
General office and outdoor work environments.
Minimum
Qualifications:
This is an internship position.
Candidates shall be enrolled in an accredited college or university majoring in public safety, fire science, law enforcement; occupational safety, emergency management, or emergency response with demonstrated written and oral proficiency in the English language; proficiency in Spanish preferred.
Candidates applying in the Spring semester majoring in communications, marketing, or other related majors will be considered to assist with coordination of the regional preparedness conference and exercise.
Strong writing, editing and graphic communication skills, organizational and time management skills; ability to operate a personal computer and a variety of programs, office equipment, and internet.
Must deal effectively with the public and varying levels of management.
Candidate shall have regular access to internet and computer with Microsoft Office application.
Work status will be closely monitored via Microsoft Teams with Emergency Management personnel available for mentorship during normal business hours.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
