Veterinary Technician Job Category Technician - Animal Care Shift 1 Job Posting Covance is currently seeking a Veterinary Technician for the Alice, TX site.
As a Veterinary Technician you will develop expertise in a variety of high order technical and/or administrative skills which may include, but are not limited to:
Perform initial assessment and physical examination of animals Obtain and submit diagnostic samples to laboratory.
Assist veterinarian in various medical procedures, including handling and restraint of animals Obtain diagnostic radiographs and maintain upkeep of equipment.
Schedule diagnostic ultrasound sessions with veterinary staff Surgery:
o Schedules o Maintenance and upkeep of equipment o Assists in surgical procedures o Monitors animal anesthesia and recovery o Perform minor surgical procedures Dental procedures, such as routine cleaning, extractions Order and inventory supplies Train appropriate technical staff on procedures and assist in developing internal training programs Generate appropriate SOPs for new capabilities.
Report all animal care concerns and become involved in the resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary.
Work will require PPE (personal protective equipment), N95 respirator and work within small or confined spaces and outdoors.
Other duties as assigned Education/Qualifications Bachelor or Associates degree in Life Sciences (such as Animal Science), Associate degree in Laboratory Animal Technology, Associate degree in Veterinary Technology, Registered Vet Tech or Certified Vet Tech AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technologist level desirable.
Experience 6 months of experience in a lab or veterinary setting preferred Must be able to work in a laboratory setting with laboratory animals, emphasis on non-human primates Source:
