Registered Nurse (Women's Health Care Manager)

- Responsible for identification of learning needs and utilization of educational resources for development of proficiencies and skills in women's health services. - Collaborates with providers, nurses, pharmacists, fee office personnel, Women Veterans Program Manager and others regarding but not limited to the breast and gynecologic care needs of Veterans. - Responsible for identifying, facilitating, and coordinating patient-centered care options and services related to mammography and breast care, cervical screenings and abnormalities, and other women's health issues; including problems between VA and authorized non-VA/fee-based providers and patients. - Works directly with the patients, and their families when appropriate, VA staff, non-VA care providers and organizations, and the Women Veterans Program Manager to achieve seamless care, to facilitate patient satisfaction, to reduce duplication of services and delay in care, and to monitor quality of care and services provided. - Responsible and accountable for the provision of certain direct and indirect patient care, which is under her purview, and demonstrates and endorses culturally sensitive, appropriate professional patient communication and care. - Functions in a clinical and administrative environment as the liaison among VA providers, non-VA/fee-based providers, fee office personnel, pharmacists, radiologists, patient, and hospital personnel when appropriate. - Adheres to VHA directives, established policies, standards of care, and standards of practice. - Demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches in the management, delivery, maintenance, and implementation of women's health services within the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System. - Works directly with CBOC administration and PACTs to coordinate action plans for addressing performance improvement in women's health preventative screenings. - Participates in coordinating educational functions, activities for promotion of services, events related to special observances or campaigns for women Veterans. - Performs chart reviews for clinical documentation improvement; uses the data from chart reviews to address training needs or process improvement needs. - Works closely with the Women Veterans Program Manager, Women's Health Care Coordinator, and Women's Health Medical Director to roll-out initiatives for staff development and or quality improvement interventions. - Actively educates the patient and family on health promotions and disease prevention strategies and options for care and treatment. - Advocates fiscal responsibility in the management of patient care through effective utilization of resources, to include medical supplies and non-traditional appointments. - Supports patient-driven care in a safe, efficient manner, using evidence-based principles. - Utilizes approved Standing Orders and Guidelines to facilitate autonomy in providing care. - Maintains privacy and confidentiality of all patient information, including electronic self-management patient-driven care plan for life. - Promotes health promotion and risk reduction strategies for Women Veterans through assessment and utilization of the SAIL performance measures, ACSC Conditions, HEDIS performance measures, utilization of the Primary Care Almanac, Primary Care Compass, EQm, DataMart, etc. - Utilizes warm handoff communication for care-coordination to other levels of care. - Utilizes data tools and electronic technologies to pull data as well as compile and track data related to women's health services. This information in turn is shared with CBOB Admin, PACTS, WH department, and director supervisor. - Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule:

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Activities may require prolonged standing, extensive walking, bending, pushing/pulling and lifting, transport of stretchers, and beds, with or without patients; assistance in moving anesthetized patients may be required. In patient clinic area, hazards include risk of exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substance, electrical hazards and risk of physical injury associated with patient with the potential to lose control or irrational behavior.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
