Vehicle Description This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible originally left the Baltimore factory in 1970 as a Malibu.
It was extensively renovated and converted to a Chevelle SS sometime prior to 2011.
It was acquired by the seller in 2020 and has a clean Texas title in the seller's name.
It is powered by a 454ci V8 with a Holley Sniper fuel-injection system paired to a Muncie M21 4-speed transmission with a Hurst shifter.
Engine is period correct 1971 LS5 with 4-barrel carb.
Originally rated at 365hp, a local shop estimates actual horsepower with modifications well over 500hp.
Finished in tuxedo black with red racing stripes, the car is equipped with a 12-bolt rear positraction 3.
42 rear axle, F41 heavy duty suspension with boxed control arms, front and rear sway bars, a cowl induction hood, power steering, Wilwood power 4-wheel disk brakes, polished dual exhausts with performance mufflers, factory correct air conditioning installed in 2020, AM/FM radio with Bluetooth and Sirius powered by a trunk-mounted Focal amplifier and subwoofer, and power convertible top with boot.
A previous owner replaced the convertible top and it still looks new.
Original headlamps have been replaced with Xenon lights.
Chrome American Racing wheels are mounted with Nitto NT555 275/35ZR20 102W high performance tires.
The interior, including bench seats, have been completely refinished by a previous owner in red vinyl, and the cabin features a matching rear bench, carpets, and door panels.
Only issues I am aware of:
Analog dash clock is not working and dash lights are not very bright.
One crack in the metal near the trunk lid but not getting worse (see photo).
Also one scratch on the hood (see photo) and two very minor dents in the door panels.
Car starts and runs great and clutch and transmission feels like new.
